Water bugs
Today we had a surprise visit from Richard Hodgens from the Glenelg Hopkins Water Catchment Management Authority. He put us in teams of 3 or 4 and we looked to see whether the Moyne River near Hawkesdale or Hamilton Lake had the most water bugs or the most diversity. They came out to be about the same but the the water plants were different and the Lake bugs were more active. Good fun!

Hi Hawkesdale,
We like your post about water, you have told us some interesting things. We learnt about water cylcles last year but we didn’t learn about water bugs. They sound really interesting, can you tell us more about them?

We have added 3 photos. You need a magnifying glass or a white container to get a good look. Try grabbing some water from your local creek or nearest lake. Hope you have some good rain like we have.

The bugs look really intersting and you looked as if you enjoyed yourselves. I hope we continue to get good rain.
